Benefits of an Arcways Curved Stair

Arcways Curved Stairs provides  many benefits and features.

Service

  • Design assistance is available to offer suggestions in the planning stage. Simply call 1-800-558-5096 or fax your plans to 1-920-725-2053. Our extensive literature and photo library shows dozens of design options.
  • Arcways provides detailed shop drawings for job-site verification for each curved staircase to insure the stair will properly fit at the time of delivery.
  • Four to five weeks is the normal lead time for delivery of the staircase directly to the job-site. Lead time begins after Arcways receives approved shop drawings. Upon delivery to the job-site, Arcways supervises the initial setting of the staircase by a factory trained Arcways driver. The builder can be assured of an expert overseeing the fitting of the staircase, as opposed to his/her people being responsible for setting the staircase.
  • Specially designed corrugated cardboard helps to protect the staircase at the job-site until it's time to finish the stair.
  • Prompt, courteous service is provided throughout the quoting, construction and installation process.

Construction

  • Stair handrails come with fittings attached and prepared for baluster assembly (pre-drilled or plowed and filleted). Rails are shaped, rather than bent, into the proper curve and pitch of the staircase, eliminating the use of finger joints.
  • Pre-trimmed and numbered stair balusters feature Arcways "tap-lock" system. This is a metal on metal connection which decreases handrail setting time and strengthens the balustrade system.
  • The tread and riser assembly feature a tongue and groove technique, which is then glued and pocket screwed to eliminate squeaking and deflection.
  • The staircase is completely assembled under factory environment. This enables control of the product from start to finish and allows the most stringent standards to be set and met.
  • This pre-assembled stair provides stud blocks to assist in framing radiused walls or pre-engineered beaming on an open under or freestanding staircase. Purlins are also sent on free standing stairs to ease framing of soffit to the underside of the staircase.
  • Your choice of premium grade northern red oak or paint grade poplar is standard. Other species such as American cherry, mahogany, black walnut, ash, white oak, or hickory, plus a variety of other species are also available upon quotation to better match each project's woodwork.

Architectural

  • A horizontally laminated shaped, rather than bent rail, reduces glue line visibility and eliminates spring back which can cause squeaks and wobbles.
  • Curved and mitered tread returns, mitered riser and skirtboards joints, and color and grain match skirtboards add to the beauty of an "architecturally preferred" staircase.
  • Trim pieces are provided to eliminate end grain visibility on skirtboards and to complete the blend of all components.
  • Non-finger jointed rails and landing treads keep the aesthetics clean and smooth.
  • Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) quality standards are vigorously followed and exceeded by Arcways.
