Hurricane Ian and The Arcways Stair
Nearly 20 years ago, we built this spiral stair for a client in Florida. We photographed it before it left the shop because the contrast between the Bubinga and Maple was so striking. In 2004 the stair was delivered and installed in our client’s home in Florida. Fast forward to today …
The homeowner contacted us about the stair and sent pictures. The home was in the hardest hit area of Florida during Hurricane Ian. There was a waterfall going down the stairs for hours. After nearly 20 years of constant use and Hurricane Ian, the staircase is standing strong. The finish has been dulled by all the water, but the structure of the stair is still impeccable. And that is why we put so much effort into engineering. We want to build stairs that last no matter where in the world they’re installed.
